Since 1959, Contra Costa Civic Theatre has offered on stage classes for all ages. All of the classes and camps are part of the "Live at CCCT" program.
Musical Players of CCCT rehearses an entire show while teaching drama skills including ensemble work, vocal projection, character creation, and choreography.
Students audition for parts and then rehearse the show — one song and scene at a time. Young actors are expected to memorize lines and rehearse musical numbers between classes.
Musical Players of CCCT
CCCT is dedicated to ensuring a positive theatrical learning experience for every student, stressing process, not product.
Musical Minis (ages 5-6) is an introductory class designed for young students to learn about performance and theatre skills through games, story, movement and singing. There will be a performance in class on the final day of the session that will include a demonstration of the stories and activities as well as the rehearsed performance of a few favorite musical songs. Class is held from 3:30-4:15pm on Wednesdays at CCCT.
Musical Kids, Musical Juniors and Musical Teens rehearse an entire show while teaching drama skills including ensemble work, vocal projection, character creation, and choreography.
Students audition for parts and then rehearse the show — one song and scene at a time. Young actors are expected to memorize lines and rehearse musical numbers between classes. Parents are asked to assist with the productions in one of many categories: costumes, sets, props, publicity, food, set up and strike — no experience necessary.
Musical Kids (ages 7-10) is geared for young actors who are new to performing. The shows are selected to match the experience level of the performers and will have fun parts for all participants. Musical Kids takes place at CCCT on Wednesday afternoons from 4:15–6:00 pm.
2011-12 Season
Musical Juniors (ages 9-14) will undertake a longer, more challenging production with strong ensemble participation. Musical Juniors takes place at CCCT on Monday afternoons from 4–6 pm and a few additional Saturday mornings or extended rehearsals.
2011-12 Season
Musical Teens (ages 12-16) is designed for older, more experienced performers. The class will focus on advanced skill-building in singing, dancing and acting through monthly master classes while simultaneously rehearsing a challenging production. Musical Teens is by audition only. It is possible to commit to the program for the whole school year, or opt for one semester at a time. The class meets Mondays from 6-8pm and has a monthly Saturday rehearsal.
2011-12 Season
CCCT is dedicated to ensuring a positive theatrical learning experience for every student. CCCT stresses process, not product. We focus on learning about theater and discourage competition. We are here to instill a love of the theatre in every young person and hope that our non-judgmental environment will encourage each student to express his or her full personality.
